Ken Cordier was the pilot of an F4C on his second
tour and 175th mission when he was shot down on 2
December 1966. There f$c was one of three lost that
day. He and his backseater, Michael Lane ejected
at 24,000 feet from the F-4C when it suffered a
direct hit by a SAM. Cordier fell through the
fireball of a second SAM fired at the aircraft.
He received only minor burns. Both were captured
almost immediately after reaching the ground and
after an all night truck ride to Hanoi, they
began seventy-five month tours as a POW.

Michael Lane retired from the United States Air
Force as a Colonel. He and his wife Ruth reside
